Rebel Without a cause is probably the epitome of rebel films not because of how tough or rebellious James Deans character was or the other lead roles where, but the fact that it went into a direction and depth of internal confusion and anxiety that is unlike all rebel films. A scene in Rebel Without a cause that pushes past the tough and into the sick and anxiety ridden soul of teenager that is the scene when James Deans character Jim is trying to get past his pacifist parents lies about out the future where he is on the stair case arguing with his parents about doing the right thing.
